Mission Peak / Point from Neon Way hiking trail photos
You have much to learn grasshopper!
Mission Point, also known as Mission Peak, is a spur of Oat Mountain. It is 2,771 ft (845 m) high. In Granada Hills, in the San Fernando Valley, in northern Los Angeles County, Southern California, it is the second highest peak of the Santa Susana Mountains after Oat Mountain.
Mission Point is located in the eastern edge of the Santa Susana Mountains. Newhall Pass lies to the east, separating the Santa Susana and San Gabriel mountain ranges.
Mission Point is located above Aliso Canyon, north of California State Route 118 (Ronald Reagan freeway), south of the 5 freeway, and west of the 405 and 210 sandwiched between Porter Ranch and Granada Hills in the northern San Fernando Valley.
This is listed as between 4.5 to 5.27 mile hike. The hike has a total ascent between 1135 and 1300 ft and a maximum elevation of between 2709 feet and 2771 feet.
There is the possibility of seeing snakes, especially rattlesnakes, rabbit or wild hares, plenty of birds, hawks, crows, woodpeckers, and much more. There is the coyote or small bobcat. The rare mountain lion or bear. Many insects, flowers, and trees.
A video of all the photos I took on the hike.
Certain seasons can see a lot of rainfall and get some major winds. The trail continues up to Newhall and the Santa Clarita Valley
